Scores of WhatsApp users in India reported being unexpectedly placed under a mandatory account review on Monday evening, temporarily restricting access to the messaging service. Meta had not commented on the issue at the time of publication, leaving users uncertain about the cause, the scale of the disruption and when normal access would return.
